Checker blocks!

Då har eg starta opp symaskina etter sommaren. Desse blokkene skal sendast til augustdronninga i ScandibeeHive2. Eg blei veldig begeistra for denne blokka. Ho heiter Checker, er enkel å sy, og kan blokkene kan setjast saman på mange måtar med totalt forskjellig uttrykk.

ZOOLOGISK HAGE I KØBENHAVN

On our visit to Kopenhagen we went to the Zoo. Some amazing views, and some sad ones. I have chosen some nice views.

Eg blei positivt overraska i dyreparken i København. Størst inntrykk trur eg leoparden gjorde. Fantastiske lydar!  (Men isbjørnen var trist å sjå på, stereotypi og isopor/is....)

Downhill, uphill, feathers, birds and flowers.

Today I have been busy making blocks for June and July Scandibee 2016. I like all of them, but the feather was quite challenging. I wonder if I'd rather make them by foundation piecing. 

The bird is a finished needle turn block from Sarah Fielke.

I dag har eg jobba iherdig med bytteblokker. Dei var morosame å sy, men særleg fjørene var litt utfordrande. Eg trur eg vil anbefale å sy slike på papir pga dei skrå bitane (sjølv om dei er laga på ein smart måte ved hjelp av panel).

Elles blir det mykje rydding/kasting/systematisering. Eg har teke syrommet ein gong siste veka (rot igjen i dag). Elles sender eg vekk ting til bruktbutikk, loppemarked og Fretex.

Ein ting eg skal jobbe med i sommar, er å bli flinkare å fotografere. Eg har investert i ei handbok på norsk, så får vi sjå korleis det går.

More practice on my Janome Rolls Royce this week. Love it! 

Some finishes and some blocks here. The table runner is not what I dreamt of, as the contrasts are not good. I must make another one another week...

Less is more, but I love experimenting with quilting on these mini quilts.

And then there are some ScandiBee blocks that I hope have arrived in Sweden by now!

Her er nokre ting som er heilt ferdige denne veka. Den nye maskina er ein drøm å sy med, men det tek tid med instruksjonsboka ved sida...

Minikviltane er kanskje kvilta i hel, men det er så moro å eksperimentere, så det får vere. 

Løparen er fin nok, men eg er ikkje fornøgd med kontrastane, så eg må nok gjere fleire forsøk på dette mønsteret. Eg ville ikkje ha for store kontrastar, og så gjekk eg i hi grøfta. 

Onsdag skal vi ha papirsaum på klubbmøtet, så eg har øva meg litt meir i kveld, sjå det nest nederste biletet. Det nederste er Scandibee-blokker som er sende til Sverige. Heftige fargar, men det var dette dronningbia ville ha.

Sew alongs and more fun!

Her er ei lita oversikt over ting eg syslar med for tida. Sjekk gjerne linkane og bli inspirert!

Finally I had some time to sew this weekend. I have joined Laila in a low volume plus quilt sew along. These blocks are for sure addictive! Look here at Laila's blog for more info, in case you would like to join too. I have tested out the mini version, and will go for that in the first project.  And after that I have a plan...

 Together with Turid I have joined a Scandibee sew along. The first queen bee has asked for a couple of "slabs", and here I have done som testing. This one will be for myself. I will try to follow along the rainbow scrap challenge, the colour for January is blue. Maybe I will make a couple of slabs each month, as I have quite a big amount of scraps, and it is so enjoyable to "make one's own" fabric from scraps.

I have also tried paper foundation piecing without touching the paper. I have never done this before. I will show you how to do this in a future blog post. This is a Mini, and is quilted in a big spiral.

This will be finished tonight as I follow Mammon on TV.

Denyse Schmidt's old fabric line Katie Jump Rope has been released once more, and I had a kick off transaction with Etsy to get these very cheerful and wonderful fabrics. 

But now I have bought enough fabric for many months, and will not buy anything for 6 months. Sorry you nice shop ladies out there.....

Sew my Stash 2016!  This is an Instagram happening. I like it. I will do it. I will not just collect and cherish my fabric, I will make nice things from them.
